Sexual Transitions
"For clarity's sake", Hirschfeld classified sexual characteristics into four groups:

    "1. The genitals,
     2. Other physical characteristics,
     3. The sexual drive,
     4. Other psychical characteristics."

Distinct examples of sexual organ transitions were hermaphrodites; of bodily transitions were "bearded ladies"; of sexual drive transitions were homosexuals; and of psychical transitions were transvestites. A large photo-wall hung in the Institute, depicting numerous "specimens" of sexual transitions  1 .

(On the following 10 text panels, individual transitions are presented. After these text panels a reconstruction of the photo-wall "Sexual Transitions" may be seen.
